Cheklist of Indian Plants. 12 volumes. 2026. CLXXXII, 4310 p. gr8vo. Hardcover.
The Checklist of Indian Plants is an ambitious national reference work that brings together decades of botanical research, field observations, herbarium studies, taxonomic scholarship and critical literature review into a unified reference to India’s vascular plants. It provides an authenticated and authoritative record of native, introduced, cultivated and naturalised taxa, incorporating accepted scientific names, synonyms, author citations, publication details, habit and distribution. More than a conventional list of plant names, the Checklist consolidates information previously dispersed across floras, monographs, scientific journals, manuals and taxonomic revisions.
Approximately 20,500 taxa, including species, subspecies, varieties and forma, have been nomenclaturally curated. Flowering plant families are arranged largely according to APG IV, while generic names assessed through established taxonomic processes. The Index Nominum Genericorum Plantarum was consulted for the type species of most included genera. Accepted names and synonymy are based on recent monographs, journal articles, floras and manuals, while author citations and publication abbreviations follow recognised sources
