Réconquérir la biodiversité végétale du Sud-Ouest de l'océan Indien. 2026. illus. 264 p. gr8vo. Paper bd.- In French.

The islands of the south-western Indian Ocean are world-renowned for their rich, unique and vulnerable biodiversity. Human activity remains the primary cause of habitat degradation, species extinction and the decline in species populations. Restoring this natural heritage is a matter of ecological, societal and cultural urgency. However, the willingness of conservation stakeholders to take action depends on a sound understanding of the ecology of native plant species and propagation methods.

This practical guide serves as a toolkit for stakeholders involved in various levels of biodiversity conservation. It contributes to the dissemination of ecological and physiological data, accumulated over more than thirty years by CIRAD in Réunion within the Indian Ocean basin. It takes the form of propagation route sheets for 100 native species and incorporates strategies to overcome the main obstacles encountered at each stage of the process.

This publication thus sows the seeds to remove technical and operational barriers, with the aim of contributing to the collective effort to conserve and restore a biodiversity that is unique in the world.
