The Genus Astragalus in Iran. Vol. 2: Perennials. 1989. (Technical Publ., no. 44). 124 pls. (black & white). 430 p. gr8vo. Paper bd. - In Farsi, with an introduction in English.
From the preface: In this second volume, two sub-genera, including 13 sections and 188 species of perennial astragali are studied and like the first volume, primarily, the key for the sections and afterward in each section, the key of the species are set out. In many cases, I am quite aware of chromosomal characteristics which are the only basis of inheritance, derivation and speciation, but in spite of that no success to give a phylogenetic to find any trace and phylogenic sequence and although in the species key of each section automatically artificial groupings occur, in placing them, I could not follow the old existing floristic sequences in flora. So I arranged the order of all species in the form of Latin Alphabetic one. To introduce each species, first the scientific name, later its sources in floras and known monographs and then their synonymous names are inserted. A Persian description of plant with manipulation and monotonously is provided from the existing samples and other information such as seminology and chromosomal countings are added. Species which chromosomal countings have been done by the author are marked with (*) asterisk. After description of each species, the type locality have been mentioned.
In this volume based on holotypification and lectotypification 6 sections and 14 species and varieties for the first time are treated as synonyms. A new monotypic section, 50 species, 2 subspecies and a new combination have been mentioned as new taxa. 8 species are reported as the new records toIran.
