A taxonomic treatment of the genus Ptyssiglottis includingAncylacanthus, Hallieracantha, Oreothyrsus, and Polystrema is given.The phylogeny is briefly dealt with. Leaf morphology, inflorescencemorphology and pollen morphology yield important characters. Thedistribution of selected characters is mapped. The distribution of allspecies is mapped. Eight new species are published.
