Therefore, diatoms and benthic fauna are widely used in the field of water ecology monitoring and evaluation worldwide because of their wide distribution, fixed habitat and sensitivity to changes in water environment.

A total of 61 genera and 260 species of diatoms and 98 species of benthic fauna in 3 phyla and 7 orders are recorded in this book, and each species is photographed and described morphologically.
