An Atlas dedicated to the Red Sea, an extensive review of animal and plant species found in coral reefs, bays and lagoons, coastal plains with mangroves and wrecks. The 1,300 species reported were photographed in their habitat, the best way to highlight their characteristics, habits and their relationship with the surrounding environment. In the introductory kit the main peculiarities of this extraordinary sea are treated, the geographical context, the physical-chemical and biological state of its waters, the seabed, the main interactions between organisms and the environment. It also deals with the madreporic communities, the shallow coastal ones and those present in the islands and in the outcrops far from the coast. The volume also has the ambition to describe its interactions with the neighboring seas, the Mediterranean to the north and the Indian Ocean to the south, a set of very special environmental conditions due to their uniqueness. So a semi-closed sea with two faint openings at its ends. These characteristics have led him over time to select, through long evolutionary processes, forms of life present only in the Red Sea. In addition to the numerous cases concerning the varied world of invertebrates, it is believed that this condition also affects 16% of fish species. You will find all this and more in this work entirely dedicated to the Red Sea and its values. The author, biologist and diver, has been able to combine scientific rigor with the principles of correct disclosure.
The title of this book is rather misleading. 560 pages deal with animals and 14 pages only deal with plants.
