This book titled "The Orchids of Nepal Himalaya" is the first illustrated account which collates information about orchids found and reported from Nepal. The primary basis of this work is an extensive and intensive botanical exploration of the country carried over a period o f20 years. The text is conventional in that after the preface andI ntroduction, it gives descriptions accompanied with pen and inkillustrations of 247 taxa that are actually present in the Herbarium, Botanical Survey of Nepal (KATH), Department of Medicinal Plants, His Majesty's Government of Nepal. Two maps giving the distribution of epiphytal and terrestrial species are also included. Pertinent synonyms,basionyms and selected references besides etymology and significance ofnames of orchid genera are included.
