A Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) isan association of agricultural research centres which together representan important force in genetic conservation of crops and their wildrelatives. Under the CGIAR umbrella, the centres are collectivelycustodians of international genetic resource collections for crops thatprovide 75 per cent of the world's food energy. This volume considersthe status of the key collections, in each case providing details of thebotany, distribution and agronomy of the species concerned, in additionto extensive information on germplasm conservation and use.
