Biomembranes: Structure, Bio- genesis and Transport. 2nd International Symposium, 11-14 December 1985, Madurai. 1987. (Current Trends in Life Sciences, vol. 13).figs. (2 col.) diagr. XVIII,356 p. Lex8vo. Hard cover.
Due to the vast array of new development and techniques inbiomembranes, the biogenesis and assembly of protein during the last decade since thefirst Indo-Soviet Binational Symposium on Molecular Biology was held, the editors, and sponsorers decided to organize a IInd InternationalSymposium on biomembranes, which was held at School of BiologicalSciences, Madurai Kamraj University in December, 1985. In the Symposiumall areas of structure, biogenesis and transportfunctions of membranes are represented. To highlight a few examples: Jim Barber's (London)presentation on "The regulation of energy transfer by membraneconformational changes", Anthony's (U.K.) presentation on "Periplasmicrespiratory system in Methylotropic bacteria", Kingenberg's (Germany)description on uncoupling protein of Brown fat mitochondria,Kadenbach's (W.Germany) presentation on "The regulatory aspects ofcytochrome oxidase isozymes", Packer's (USA) contribution on "Theenergetic aspects of Cyanobacterial membranes" and Govindjee's (USA)contribution of "Chlride binding of spinach thylakoid membranes".
