J.E. Gunnerus (1718-73) was bishop of Trondheim Diocese in 1758-73, andpublished Flora Norvegica in 1767-76. His herbarium consists of ca. 2725sheets and a large folio (368 pages containing ca. 400 specimens). Ca.784 species are represented: fungi 5, algae 19, lichens ca. 60,bryophytes ca. 80, and vascular plants ca. 620. The herbarium isarranged strictly according to Flora Norvegica numbering. The presentcatalogue is arranged in the same manner. It gives the followinginformation about each sheet: the name and number, locality data if any,the number and status of the specimens on the sheets and a modernrevision if any. The indexes are based on both Flora Norvegica names andthe names valid at present. Type material of six algal taxa, twovascular plants and one lichen is present in the herbarium. An index ofthese is also included. The condition of the specimens in the herbariumis good. All sheets are mounted on standard herbarium sheets.
