Delta System: A general system for processing taxonomic descriptions. 1993.
Delta is a descriptive database appling felxible data-coding format fortaxonomic descriptions. The system has been developed by the CSIRODivision of Entomology and is in use worldwide for diverse kinds oforganisms, including viruses, corals, crustaceans, insects, fish, fungi,plants and wood. Also included are an associated set of MS-DOS programs(regularly updated) for producing and typesetting natural-languagedescriptions and keys, for interactive identification and informationretrieval (INTKEY), and for consersion of the data to formats requiredfor phylogenetic and phenetic analysis. The system us used by the Floraof Australia project, and the data-coding format has been adopted as aninternational standard by the Taxonomic Databases Working Group forPlant Science.
