'The vegetation of the Netherlands part 6' brings together for the first time all communities of mosses and lichens observed in the Netherlands in one overview. The book covers all aquatic, epilitic, epiphytic and terrestrial associations, divided into 16 classes. The species composition for each class is shown in synoptic tables. All associations are also substantiated with vegetation recordings and tabulated. Introduction with definitions and nomenclature, relationship with other plant communities, the bryolichenological complex, substrate, environment, microbiotopes, ecological indicator numbers and recording methodology.
Descriptions of all Dutch moss and lichen communities (since 1990). Per class: diagnostic species, ecology, succession, natural value and trend, syntaxonomic classification, difference with other classes. Synoptic table: species composition with all characteristic and diagnostic species. Determination using dichotomous keys, characteristic species combinations and properties such as substrate and growth location. For each (sub)association information such as characteristic species, ecology and distribution in the Netherlands.
