Publication of volume 1 of the Flora de Chile marks the beginning ofan important new South American flora. Chile is home to an estimated5100 native species of plants, about half endemics. The FLORA DE CHILEcombines previous information with new data developed during the courseof the project, presenting it in a format of use to botanists,ecologists, conservationists, agronomists, foresters, and naturalists.The series is designed to make identification easy: keys to allfamilies, genera and species are provided.
