Euphorbia francoisii, which Thai people call "Francois", is a plant in the genus Euphorbia. which includes more than 2,000 species ranging from ground covers to large plants. This genus is, in fact. one of the largest groups among the flowering plants. Euphorbia francoisii is also classified as being a member of the group of plants under threat of extinction. It is in the category of CITES Appendix I. which means that owners must be able to identify the sources of the plants to be allowed to export them. Euphorbia francoisii originates in Madagascar. It grows in forests in semi-arid tropical or subtropical zones. They thrive at a temperature of about 25 to 30 degree Celsius. However, they can tolerate climates with temperatures from 5 to 40 degree Celsius.
