During the process of introduction and domestication, ex situ conservation and medicinal value research of medicinal plants in China, a large number of precious data and materials have been accumulated. Systematic sorting plays an important role in the conservation of medicinal plants, the research and utilization of their medicinal value, etc.

This book contains a total of 140 medicinal plants from 55 families. The Latin names of the species are based on Flora of China; the families and species are arranged according to the APG IV system. The introduction of each medicinal plant includes Chinese name, Latin name, natural distribution, morphological characteristics of ex situ cultivation, classification and identification, introduction information, phenological information, key points of ex situ cultivation, medicinal parts and main medicinal functions.
The photographs show the morphological characteristics of the species. For the convenience of reference, the list of medicinal plants preserved in this volume and the geographical environment data of each medicinal botanical garden are attached at the back of the book.
