Flora della Pianura Padane e dell'Appennino Settentrionale. 2013. 2800 col. photographs. XXXVII, 745 p. gr8vo. Hardcover.- In Italian.
The different areas of the Po Valley and the Northern Apennines present a complex geomorphology and are home to a very rich and varied flora. Although intensively cultivated and largely deprived of its original vegetation, the Po Plain constitutes a hinge between the Alpine and Apennine areas, with islands of biodiversity of great floristic interest.
This book describes the vascular plants present in the area, ordering them by family, genus and species, following the systematic order adopted by the most widely accepted European classifications. This photoatlas of the vascular flora consists of 2800 entries, each one accompanied by an original photo, a botanical description of the species, data on its biological form, chorology, phenology and rarity status.
The distribution within the province is also reported, while the mention of similar species, subspecies and cultivars brings the number of taxa described to 3000. There are also notes on food uses, etymology, phytosociological association and other curiosities about many of the species considered.
