Cet ouvrage qui s’adresse autant aux amateurs qu’aux botanistes confirmés est le résultat de 10 ans de travail et de recherches par une soixantaine de botanistes bénévoles du Cercle vaudois de botanique, un bel exemple de science participative!

Avec près de 1000 pages et 2500 espèces illustrées, il présente l’état actuel des connaissances sur la biodiversité végétale du canton de Vaud.

Une introduction approfondie retrace l’histoire de la botanique et l’évolution du paysage dans le canton, et aborde certains aspects géographiques du territoire (climat, géologie, milieux, etc.). Elle présente également les résultats d’une analyse de l’évolution de la flore au cours des 140 dernières années.

Chaque espèce est illustrée d’une photographie, accompagnée d’une carte de distribution, d’une description de son écologie et de ses habitats, ainsi que de commentaires sur son évolution dans le canton depuis la fin du XIXe siècle.

L’Atlas est ponctué par une centaine d’encadrés thématiques qui apportent un éclairage sur certaines spécificités naturelles ou historiques vaudoises.

Près de 80% de la flore suisse son présente sur le territoire du canton de Vaud.

This work, which is aimed at both amateurs and experienced botanists, is the result of 10 years of work and research by around sixty volunteer botanists from the Cercle Vaudois de Botanique, a fine example of participatory science!

With nearly 1000 pages and 2500 illustrated species, it presents the current state of knowledge on plant biodiversity in the canton of Vaud.

An in-depth introduction traces the history of botany and the evolution of the landscape in the canton, and addresses certain geographical aspects of the territory (climate, geology, environments, etc.). It also presents the results of an analysis of the evolution of the flora over the last 140 years.

Each species is illustrated with a photograph, accompanied by a distribution map, a description of its ecology and its habitats, as well as comments on its evolution in the canton since the end of the 19th century.

The Atlas is punctuated by around a hundred thematic boxes which shed light on certain natural or historical features of Vaud.

Nearly 80% of Swiss flora is present in the territory of the canton of Vaud.
