Katalog und Rote Liste der Gefäßpflanzen Oberösterreichs. 2009. (Stapfia, 91). 124 Farbabb. Tab. 324 S. gr8vo. Kartoniert.

This paper consists of the checklist and the 2nd edition ofthe Red List of endangered vascular plants of Upper Austria and hence replaces the 1st edition (STRAUCH 1997). Due to recent new methodological developments (e.g. actuality, information content, reproducibility, objectivity), we developed a method based on the current Red List of South Tyrol. This approach is considerably different from the one used for the 1st edition of the Red List. Special emphasis has been put on the analysis of as many sources of the flora of Upper Austria as possible (floristic mapping, biotope mapping, old and new floristic literature, herbaria), and as many botanists working in Upper Austria as possible have been involved. We included neophytes and apomicts in the checklist and in the Red List and we regionalized the assessment for the three Upper Austrian ecoregions (Bohemian Massif, Northern foothills, Alps). Since the beginning of floristic research 2925 vascular plant taxa have been recorded in Upper Austria. Of these 2250 taxa are currently or have formerly been established. The number of taxa currently established is 2130. For 130 vascular plants their occurrence is doubtful and 269 taxa have been recorded erroneously. The number of neophytes (718 taxa, 27 percent) is close to the Austrian average. Of the 2250 currently or formerly established taxa, 120 (5 percent) are extinct, 268 (12 percent) are critically endangered, 85 (4 percent) are endangered, 194 (9 percent) are vulnerable, and 50 (2 percent) are assumed to be threatened; hence, 717 taxa (32 percent) are listed in a Red List category. Very rare, however currently not threatened, are 129 taxa, which are assigned to the category potentially threatened, 75 taxa (3 percent) are near threatened, 1173 taxa (52 percent) are not threatened and 156 (7 percent) insufficiently known taxa have been assigned to the category data deficient.
