This book offers photographs of a selection of typical Australasian lichens, many of which have been distributed in the Lichenes Australasici Exsiccati as well as some additional species. The goal is to make images of these lichenological treasures available to a wider circle of interested people. The authors hope that the images will complement the literature and aid in the determination of further Australasian species. The images have been made from an exsiccata - set which is presently deposited in the Herbarium F. Schumm. The standardized entries start with a brief description of the species,using primarily volumes 54 to 58 of the Flora of Australia. This is followed by a bracket() with the number in the Herbarium F. Schumm and the text written on the lable of the particular exsiccata. Overall photographs of the particular species follow as well as images of important details with precise scales for crustose species thick, thin,stained and unstained sections. Particular emphasis was paid to the excipulum, which is often difficult to describe in words and in this way the imagies will complement published descriptions.
