This is a comprehensive taxonomic account of 300 taxa of lichen sbelonging to 83 genera and 26 families supported by 2 maps and 180 colour photographs. Identification keys at different hierarchy have been provided in order to facilitate their identification. The genera under each family and species under each genus is arranged alphabetically. Taxonomic description of each species is followed by distribution in the world as well as in India and specimen citation. Itis hoped that this book will be helpful in studies of lichens in thenorth-eastern part of India and will also play a role in the preparation of a database of lichens of the state of Assam, north-eastern India and India as a whole to various stakeholders.
