Aquatic and Semi-Aquatic Plants of the Lower Ganga-Delta. Its Taxonomy, Ecology and Economic Importance.1990. 4 col. plates. XIV, 408 p. gr8vo.Cloth.
In the book the author discussed in brief the angiosperm flora of thefresh-water environment from the lower Ganga Delta regions of WestBelgal. This individual flora should be familiar in terms of theircorrect nomenclature, identity, key notes, ecological set-up, phenology, physiognomy and economic importance as well. It is also pointed out howfar these plants are weedy and how these can be controlled and/or utilized. There is a common belief that in the Universe each and everyindividual is correlated; without one the other cannot successfullycomplete their life cycle. So, for our own benefit and to avoid thepollution or to keep the nature in balance like others, these aquaticecosystems should be conserved and scientific means and methods shouldbe applied. Taking this view in mind, the flowering plants of thefreshwater ecosystems (327 numbers) are discussed in relation to itstxonomy, ecology and economic importance or potentialities. All theseplants were collected from the field by the author himself who studiedthe above subject at the field, the herbarium and laboratories. Theexperimental trials have also been made in the laboratories and in theagriculture and aquaculture ponds as well.
