Introductory chapters include orchid structure, pollinationand habitat description. The main chapter is a description of species in generic order and contains 1-3 photos of each species, leaf, stem and flower features, flowering time, distribution, similar species, special notes, and status if rare and endangered.
While this guide covers only orchids found in the East Gippsland region, it is of significance to other regions in observation of the populations and variants found in this region. East Gippsland is a diverse region geographically spanning coastal habitats, lowland, rainforest as well as alpine habitats. The book has been checked by botanists at the Herbarium, Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne and against the official species list, Vic Flora.
