Photoprotection in Plants. Optical Screening-based Mechanisms. 2012. (Springer Series in Biophysics, 14). 17 col. illus. 60 b/w illus. X, 165 p. gr8vo. Hardcover.
This book is an attempt to develop an ntegral view of opticalscreening-based photoprotection in microalgae and higher plants. To thisend, the key groups of pigments involved in the screening of ultravioletand visible components of solar adiation in microalgae and higherplants, and the patterns of their accumulation and distribution withinplant cells and tissues, are described. Special attention is paid to themanifestations of screening effects and their relationships to creening pigments makeup and spectroscopy in plants provides valuableinsights into the state of plants long-term photoacclimation, as well asample opportunities for he non-destructive quantification of screeningpigments and the assessment of the efficiency of photoprotection providing by these pigments in situ.
