Quantitative Approaches to Phytogeography. 1991. (Tasks for Vegetation Science, vol. 24). illustr. VIII, 280 p. gr8vo. Hard cover.
This volume shows examples of species' composition-oriented applications to phytogeography. The approaches rely heavily on newly developed numerical techniques which allow the combination of quantitative floristic and vegetational analysis with mapping and causal or evolutionary deductions. The papers selected for this book show approaches for both higher and lower plants. Several papers dealing with relevant vegetation information from the respective areas appear for the first time. The combination of new approaches successfully applied for new problems will be very stimulating to young scientists. While the book does not intend to serve as a textbook, its exemplary value for future research work is clearly visible. Many papers demonstrate the efficient use of the developments in information science for species-oriented phytogeography.
Good second hand copy.
