This guide provides illustrated account of 576 species of vascular plants (Gymnosperms and Angiosperms) from KWS for easy field identification.In addition, an annotated list of 1130 species of higher plants recorded from the landscape are given. It also provides basicbackground covering biophysical features, land use practices, socio-cultural practices and areas of botanical interest. A 3D map showing important localities, trekking routes and prominent alpine meadows (Bugyals) has been given.
For the illustrated species, a short description, local names, places of occurrence and brief notes on ecology and ethnobotany have been given. It is hoped that this guide would be of much use to a wide range of visitors to KWS as well as other parts of Western Himalaya including students, naturalists, trekkers and tourists and generate conservation awareness among the general public.
