Rechinger's Flora Aegaea offers a treatment of the vegetation of the Aegaeann islands and peninsulas, the latter being mainly incorporated in the work, because of the absence of floristic works on most of the Aegaean coasts. Compared with the works of Boissier, Halascy and Hayekthe following should be noticed: Boissier's work comprises the complete Aegaean region, but at this time the knowledge of the Aegean flora presented still many a lack. Halascy worked on the western and southwestern part of the Aegaeis only. Hayek included the northern and southern part of the region, but his phytogeographical information is not so detailed and of general nature.
