From the preface: This account by Stephen Renvoize shows how rich a reserve of diversity is represented by the native grasses of Bahia, the largest of the states of northeastern Brasil. An intensive study of the Bahian grasses has revealed the existence of many new species and even new genera, in this economically important family. No clearer demonstration could be desired of the necessity for careful taxonomic research in floristically-rich tropical regions as a prelude to the evaluation and consideration of genetic resources. - Good second hand copy.
