Good state. -The aim of this book is to review recent developments in thereproductive ecology of tropical forest plants, and to explore theimplications of current findings on forest structure, function,management and conservation. The book comprises eight sections. Thefirst introductory section emphasizes the practical application ofresearch in plant reproductive ecology. The next six sections areconcerned with Phenology, Plant-pollinator interactions, Sexual systemsand gene flow, Seed and fruit dispersal, Seed physiology, Seedgermination and seedling ecology, Regeneration, and Reproductive biologyin relation to tree improvement programmes. Each section is preceded bya commentary which seeks to provide a general perspective for the papersand highlights their main points. The final section consists of aconcluding statement about the workshop in Malaysia, which gave rise tothe book, and the general state of tropical forestry.
