In - depth study of 20 medicinal plants growing predominantly in theWestern Ghats of India. They were selected because on the high demandon them, borne out by information on the number of formulations theyare used and /or status of threat to their natural populations inSouthern India. Information on distribution, parts of plantextensively used in medicines, well know ayurvedic preparations, andcomprehensive taxonomic descriptions. The results of intensivepharmacognostic study are provided to serve as a reference materialfor checking adulteration. Along with this, nursery studies are alsogiven to provide information on cultivation methods for each species.
