In - depth study of 20 medicinal plants growing predominantly in the Western Ghats of India. They were selected because on the high demand on them, borne out by information on the number of formulations they are used and /or status of threat to their natural populations in Southern India. Information on distribution, parts of plant extensively used in medicines, well know ayurvedic preparations, and comprehensive taxonomic descriptions. The results of intensive pharmacognostic study are provided to serve as a reference material for checking adulteration. Along with this, nursery studies are also given to provide information on cultivation methods for each species.
