Flore d'Afrique Centrale
Spermatophytes: Verbenaceae. 2024. 13 figs. 8 col. photogr. 60 p. gr8vo. Paper bd.
This publication comprises a regional treatment of the family Verben-
aceae. Its delimitation follows that corresponding to present-day phylogenetic findings, where several groups formerly included in Verbenaceae have now been transferred to Lamiaceae. A total of 20 species in seven genera (representing four tribes) i.e., Duranta, Lantana, Lippia, Phyla, Priva, Stachytarpheta and Verbena, occur naturally within the three countries covered by this Flora. Three other genera are known only from cultivation. The complicated situation concerning Lantana cam ara is explained and a new subspecies is described within that genus. User-friendly keys to all taxa are included, while two photo plates, 13 line drawings and detailed morphological descriptions provide additional
support to the identification process. For each species, information is gn their distribution, habitat, conservation status, uses and vernacular names. Representative specimens are cited.
