The book comprises of six sections. The first introductory sectionemphasises the status of forestry in India. The next five sections areconcerned with forest and people, forest and industries, forestry andproduction, forestry research and education and conclusions. Eachsection provides general perspectives for the papers and highlights their main points on problems of forest degradation and need forresearch and development for greening the country. The final sectionconsists of a concluding statement about the workshop in Hisar, India(Dec. 1989). It is hoped that the forest policies, appended in the text,will provide an insight to the reader about the changing scenario ofthe Indian forestry.
