Cordylanthus (Scrophulariaceae-Pedicularieae-Castillejinae) is a genusof 18 species of hemiparasitic annuals that occupy diverse habitas inthe western United States and adjacent Mexico. This monograph completesa taxonomic revision of the genus based on morphological studies ofliving plants and available herbarium specimens, on seed coat patternsas seen under scanning electron microscope, and on chromosome number;subgenera Dicranostegia and Hemistegia were treated earlier. SubgenusCordylanthus, treated taxonomically here, is divided into three sectionsthat correspond with distinctive chromosome numbers.
