The specific goals of the plot at Lambir Hills were 1)To providea conventional comparative view of composition and growth and yieldin Sarawak's lowland dipterocarp forests /2) To investigate thespatial pattern of regeneration on the two different soil types andgreat topographic diversity that is included within the Lambir forest,and 3) To provide a baseline of information on tree populations thatcould serve supplementary projects such as studies of phenology andreproductive biology pursued by the team from Kyoto University. Thedata in this present volume presents the forest as a static entity -a quantitative protrait of the forests of Lambir Hills at one moment.
