The diatom flora of the Muravian Interglacial of Belarus. 2013. 32 photogr. pls. 199 p. 4to. Paper bd.- In Russian, with Latin nomenclature and English abstract.
This monograph reviews the results of many years of study of the Muravian Interglacial as well underlying periglacial deposits of the Pleistocene on the territory of Belarus based on diatom analysis. Composition and structure of studied deposits have been characterized. Taxonomical, ecological and geographicaI analyses of the Muravian diatom flora have been undertaken. Microstratigraphic subdivision of the Upper Pripyatin. Muravian and Lower Poozerian deposits on to local diatom assemblage zones (LDAZ) has been performed. Diatom succession- natural change of dominant genera has been revealed in every section. Types of diatom successions based on similarity and distinctions have been established. Palaeoecological conditions of sedimentation in various basins based on diatoms have been reconstructed.
Major stages of development of the studied diatom flora (the Pripyatin late glacial interval, Muravian Interglacial and Poozerian early glacial interval (early stadials and interstadials) have been characterized. Age and correlative features of the Muravian diatom flora distinguishing it from more ancient Pleistocene floras of the Byelovezhian and Alexandrian lnterglacials, as well as from the present diatom flora of Belarus have been determined. Comparison of diatom flora of the Muravian Interglacial of Belarus with coeval flora known on the territory of other countries of Europe has been done for the first time.
The complete systematic list of diatom flora of the Pripyatin interval is compiled. Microphotographs of dominant and characteristic diatoms of studied time interval are presented.
