Vegetation of the area is mapped at 1:25000 scale using colour aerialphotographs taken in November 1974. The major landforms in the area aredescribed and 28 vegetation map units recognised. Five map units occuron frontal dune systems, five on high dunes, seven on coastal plains,two on beach ridge plains, six on headlands and hills, one on tidalflats, one on disturbed areas and one is free water. The vegetation isstructurally complex and includes closed-forests (rainforests), layeredopen-forests (wet sclerophyll forests), open-forests, woodlands, scrubs,heaths and herblands.
