The taxonomy of the Chinese species of Epiloblium is presented alongwith discussions about their phytogeography and intragenericrelationships. The study is based on examination of many new collectionsfrom China, on field work in Taiwan, northwest China, and parts ofsouth-central China, and on detailed study of pollen, seeds, andtrichomes. Thirty-seven species, including eight subspecies, are recognized. Three species are newly described.
