In this work, 74 species from eastern and southern Asia are analysedand described in detail. A new infrageneric system within the genusEriocaulon is established based on the results of a cladisticanalysis and classical taxonomy. Many nomenclatoric problems have beensolved. One of the most important parts of the present study is theanalysis of the seed surface. The seeds of 65 selected species wereexamined by SEM.
