Wild Flowers of Sri Lanka. 2016. 140 water col. figs. 38 col. photographs. 152 p. 8vo. Paper bd.
Sri Lanka, though a small island, has been blessed with a wealth of flora and fauna. It is also fortunate in having several climate zones, ranging from cold in the Hill country to extremely high temperatures in the northern provinces. This naturally dictates the range of plants found growing in these regions.
Most of the species described here are native to the Indian subcontinent. There are also a few foreign plants, especially from Europe, which have made their home here. Examples of these are: Taraxacum officinale (Dandelion), Hypochaeris flora in this tropical area.
