A flora of the flowering plants growing wild on Easter Island ispresented, with special respect to the impact of man and needs andpossibilities of conservation. Within the latter group, establishedanthropochores and ephemerophytes are discerned. Among the 179 speciesof flowering plants growing wild on Easter Island, 30 are regarded asidiochores. The idiochores include 5 endemic species, one having becomeextinct long ago, another only surviving in Botanic Gardens. Paspalumforsterianum is most probably endemic to the island. A neotype forSophora toromiro is designated.
