The study of pteridophytes spore morphology is an important branch ofpalynology. Since China is a vast country with different climates anddiverse topography, the ferns and fern allies are very rich in speciesand in number, especially in tropical and subtropical regions. In thisbook the authors systematically describe the spore morphology of over1000 species representing 175 genera and 52 families of Chinese fernsand fern allies in addition to the materials of fossil fern spores ofsome families. The illustrations include 119 figures of spore types, 89plates of microphotographs of extant spores and 12 plates of fossilspores.
