In this first fascicle of the ETNOFLORA YUCATANENSE, we present the floristic list with its Mayan synonymy, of the higher plants (Pteridophyta to Angiospermae) found in the Yucatan Peninsula, a region that includes the states of Yucatan, Campeche and Quintana Roo, as well as the surrounding islands. This project was conceived to learn about the use of the forests and the role of the ancient Maya in the current vegetation.

In this working tool, which will be revised and expanded with further research, all the plant names are presented and supported by a herbarium specimen. This initial floristic list will allow us to add to and modify its contents in the future, as it is conceived as a computerised data base under constant revision.
