This book is also an invitation to observation. In addition to being a source of information about species and the environment in the central region of Minas Gerais, its objective is to make the reader reflect on the environment around them, recognizing themselves, like other species, also a natural being in the environment. that permeates it.

In this first volume, 300 native species from the central region of Minas Gerais are presented, many of them economically viable and used by local populations for food and even being part of the culture, such as pequi -Caryocar brasiliense Cambess., mangaba - Hancornia speciosa Gomes and jenipapo - Genipa americana L., in ornamentation such as amaryllis or orange lily - Hippeastrum puniceum (Lam.) Voss and many others in popular medicine. Rare species such as Homalolepis warmingiana (Engl.) Devecchi & Pirani. or recent discoveries such as Buchnera tacianae V.C.Souza described only in 2016 for the state of Goiás and found in the natural fields of Curvelo confirm that what is needed is an effort to preserve and understand our riches. Knowing to preserve, never before has this maxim been so urgent as it is today.

Each species is presented on a page, containing detailed photographs of its parts and textual information. The photographs are copyright and were taken directly in the field, under natural light conditions. The text includes the botanical family, currently valid scientific name and one or more skip names by which it is known, in addition to briefly addressing the most striking morphological characteristics, area of ??occurrence and possible curiosities, such as uses in cooking, medicine and popular culture.
