Flora of the Cayman Islands. 2nd rev. ed. 2010. 400 col. photogr. 250 line - figs. 880 p. gr8vo. Hardcover.
The three islands comprising the Cayman Islands (Grand Cayman, Little Caymanand Cayman Brac) support 415 native taxa (including 29endemics) in a land area little over 260 square kilometres. Whilst retaining the elements of a classic flora, some 250 line illustrations and 400 colour photographs bring the text to life, illustrating the majority of species likely to be encountered. Thus it satisfies the needs of the professional botanist, providing at the same time an accessible and informative field guide for the non-expert or eco-traveller. - The secondedition is a total revision of the first edition. The taxonomictreatments follow the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group III (APG III) System. The APG III Systems does not update classification of the Pteridophytaand Gymnosperms. Here, the author largely retained the arrangementestablished in the First Edition of his Flora (1896), which is basedon Cronquist's 'Evolution and Classification of Flowering Plants (1968),with some updating based on APG III.
