This facsimile was published in an edition of 550 copies and has been out of print for a long time. Most of the plates are coloured and represent water colours from Gesner. Volume 1 contains introductory chapters, commentary, biography of Gesner, etc. The handwritten annotations by Gesner have been transcribed and translated by Martin Steinmann. Each plate has been cut to the original size and has been mounted by hand in the facsimile edition (total of 184 plates). A large commentary follows the facsimile part in each volume.

Good second hand copy, lacking the dust covers.
