This volume contains a taxonomic treatment of the Indian species of the genus Oberonia by two well-known orchidologists from India. The study covers 41 species from Peninsular India. Two new species are described,two others are reduced to synonymy, and two taxa formerly considered synonyms are raised to species level, based on detailed studies of the column. The species are grouped in six sections, largely following the subdivision by Seidenfaden (1968), although the delimitation of the sections is changed to some extent.
