This book is a summary of research based on a systematic survey of algal plant resources in Fanjingshan Nature Reserve, Guizhou. The book is divided into two parts, the Introduction and the Monographs.

The Introduction mainly introduces the natural overview of Fanjingshan Nature Reserve, the historical overview of algal plant research, the species composition of algaes, the distribution of dominant families and genera and ecological analyses, the new records of species, as well as the discussion on the conservation of algaes.

The monographs mainly describe a total of 752 species of algal plants in Fanjingshan Weight Nature Reserve, with a total of 924 taxonomic units (species, varieties, variants) under the genus, belonging to 9 phylums, 15 classes, 33 orders, 67 families and 172 genera. Their morphological features, habitats and distribution are described, with one to many microscopic colour photographs for each species.

The book ends with a bibliography, an index of Chinese names and an index of scientific names.
