The core of the atlas consists of distribution maps of the 206 determined Polish species and one variety, using the system employed in Distribution Atlas of Vascular Plants in Poland (Zajc & Zajc 2001) under the modified ATMOS version adopted for three previous fascicles (Wojewoda 2000, Wojewoda 2002, Wojewoda 2005). In this modified system, Poland is divided into 44 squares measuring 100 100 km and coded Aa, Ab ... Gg. Each square is further divided into 100 squares coded 00, 01 ... 99. Altogether there are 3646 squares (Zajc & Zajc 2001). A set of 1:100 000 scale maps of Poland with superimposed ATMOS grids was used to determine the square code for each record. The following information on each species is given for each map: the most important synonyms and their bibliographical data; references to important literature providing descriptions and figures; general distribution; a list of hosts noted in Poland; and descriptions of localities. Taxonomic remarks are not given as they may be found for almost all the species considered here in an extensive study (Majewski 1994b). The species are arranged alphabetically. A number of additional species undetermined for various reasons are listed in Chapter VI. The position of genera in the most recent classifications of the order Laboulbeniales can be found in Chapter III, where the division of this order into lower taxa according to Tavares (1985) and Kirk et al. (2001) is given.
