Contributions have been arranged in the following sections:Chrysophyte History/ Taxonomy and Biogeography/ Ecology/ Ecophysiology/Paleolimnology.- One of the most spectacular news was the demonstration of the unexpectedly high age of the silica - scaled chrysophytes. Fossil scales of 11 species, several of these still extant, were described from Middle Eocene deposits, 47 million years old. Hitherto, fossil chrysophyte scales had only been found in postglacial sediments.
