Chinese Ancient Camphor Tree. 2020. illus. 318 p. gr8vo. Hardcover.- Chinese, with Latin nomenclature.
In China the tree iis regarded as a symbol of "longevity", "many children", "benevolence, unyielding, and humble spirit", and is often used as a place name, such as "Zhangshu City", "Zhangmu Port", "Zhangmu Village", "Zhangxi", etc. . Camphor trees are widely distributed in Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Hunan, Guangxi, and Taiwan, while ancient camphor trees remain scattered in various places. Previously, even provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) had relatively rare surveys on ancient camphor trees, and national ancient camphor "compendiums" and "treasure books" were even less expected. The team led by Professor An Jiacheng has a special interest in camphor trees.
