This handbook presents a concise list of diatom species recorded in the waters of the southern Baltic, the Gulf of Gdañsk, the Puck coastline and in offshore brackish-water systems, such as the Vistula and Szczecin Lagoons. Importantly this work includes a well set out key for ease of their identification. This will provide a very useful baseline for future comparisons of changing environmental conditions in this region of the world.
The key is set out in an unambiguous structure for each genus that has been encountered in the material and as such is an important contribution to the advancement of our knowledge of diatoms in general.
